High Grade Introducing The Bremont Wright Flyer, A Limited Edition Containing A Fragment Of The World’s First Airplane Replica Wholesale Center

Bremont has created some pretty special limited editions in the past, including the Codebreaker (containing material from Bletchley Park) and the HMS Victory (with oak and copper from the eponymous warship). Today Bremont unveils what might be the most ambitious watch they’ve produced to day, the Bremont Wright Flyer. Not only does the watch contain (according to Bremont) the company’s brand new proprietary movement, but it also contains an actual piece of muslin from the wing of the Wright Flyer, the world’s very first airplane. Seriously.

Honestly, Bremont is the only watchmaker that could pull off something like this. As if launching its very first in-house movement wasn’t enough, it has to put a piece of the world’s first airplane in the watch for good measure. It’s hard not to get excited about this piece, so let’s dig in.

The namesake aircraft, the Wright Flyer, made the world’s first powered flight in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, in December 1903. It was built by brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright, who (respectively) piloted and steadied the aircraft during the initial 12 second flight. Sure, the bi-plane required a track to take off and even its longest flight was only 59 seconds, but it literally launched us into the aviation age, and later the space age. It’s tough to understate the importance of this plane to the last 100 years of history – its influence touches everything from the world wars to commercial air travel to the space race and more.

The Wright Flyer was badly damaged after only four flights and was eventually further damaged while being stored in the Wright’s Ohio basement. But before restoring it for museum display, Orville saved some of the original muslin cloth from the wings, which his brother Wilbur had stitched together by hand. It’s this original cloth that sits inside each Bremont Wright Flyer.

Looking at the large signed rotor – with a propeller “signed” with the Wright brothers’ initials – you’ll notice a small swatch between the words “Wright” and “Flyer.” This is the fragment of cloth from the wing of the Wright Flyer, preserved and visible through the caseback of each watch. Only 450 total pieces will be produced, making these appropriately collectable. The fabric was obtained directly from the Wright family and proceeds from the sale of the Bremont Wright Flyer will benefit restoration of the historic family home in Dayton, Ohio.

Beyond this little piece of history though the Bremont Wright Flyer is still a very compelling watch. It houses the very first “in-house” movement from Bremont, the caliber BWC/01, designed and built in England from a combination of Swiss and British components. The 33.4mm automatic movement has 25 jewels and uses a bi-directional winding system that charges up the 50-hour power reserve. In addition to the central minutes/hours hands, it has a sub-dial for the running seconds as well as a big-date complication that isn’t used for the Wright Flyer. The movement is nicely finished and represents a big step forward for Bremont.

This will be the hotel version if you enjoy the look of this watch, but have a link to Bermuda (which is an excellent place to love if you’re so inclined). More so, with no taxes, purchasing watches in Bermuda is cheaper than most places in the world — such as the United States.Depending how you look at it, the Bremont Watches Melbourne Replica AC I’m an perfect preppy sport watch, or contemporary sport watch inspired from the classic gentlemanly elegance of sailboat racing. The look is ideal for someone who’s a bit more about the flip side, but really does like to collect calluses on their hands on a regular basis. Throw a leather or alligator strap on it and you’ve got a more than appropriate day or casual watch, or keep it on the rubber strap and get it dirty and wet.The AC I is not a inexpensive watch, however given the effort put into it, you would not be correct calling it overly expensive. For the dimensions of the brand, the overall layout, and the elements, I would say that the cost is far from buy territory, but is not exploitative of the customer. I think Bremont needs to create more of these and perhaps eventually turn it into a whole Bermuda collection (which makes sense for the new because the beautiful island nation is still technically controlled by England). Cost for the limited variant of 535 pieces Bremont AC I watch is4,695 USD.

The Wright Flyer’s 43mm case uses Bremont’s usual Trip-Tick construction with a decorative caseband and is available in steel, rose gold, and white gold. At 14mm, the case is on the thick side, but this is standard for Bremont. The hands and numerals are meant to recall those found on watches from the first decade of the 20th century and have faux-aged luminous material to further the effect. The sub-seconds dial at 9 o’clock is silver and bears the “1903” date. The steel edition has a glossy black dial while both the gold editions have white dials. The caseback has a big sapphire window letting you see the in-house movement and special rotor with the Wright Flyer’s wing fragment.

The Wright Flyer is a one-two punch from Bremont, both taking the brand’s aviation connection to its logical conclusion and introducing its very first in-house movement. It is available in stainless steel (300 pieces), rose gold (100 pieces), and white gold (50 pieces), and prices are yet to be announced.
